Where to go for breakfast in Victoria!

The following  is just a sampling of places specializing in breakfast – there are many more restaurants serving breakfast in addition to their lunch/dinner menu.

It’s always a good idea to  check Trip Advisor or Yelp for reviews before deciding on a place.  These are in no particular order)

John’s Place – 723 Pandora♥♥

We have been enjoying breakfast at John’s for more than 25 years.  This is our ‘go to’ place for breakfast on a Sunday morning!

John’s Place is an institution in Victoria!  Funky atmosphere, the staff (many have been there since the beginning!) is awesome and the food is amazing!  Good prices and great selection with daily fresh features.

Their selection of Eggs Benedict is legendary and done to perfection … belgian waffles with cream cheese/maple syrup to drool over!

I recommend this place highly!  (Be warned … it can get busy and you may have to wait in line … but it’s worth it!).

Hours:  Mon – Fri 7-9, Saturday 8-4 and 5-9, Sunday 8-4 and 5-9

Jam Cafe – 542 Herald St.

We are an all-day breakfast and lunch restaurant located in Old Town Victoria.  The unique menu tempts you to broaden your breakfast horizons with selections including Huevos Rancheros, Green Eggs and Ham, Brioche French Toast and Red Velvet Pancakes. Adding to the ‘comfort food’ theme are favorites such as house made cornbread, buttermilk biscuits, and creamy sausage gravy. Needless to say, there are options to satisfy any craving.

Hours:  Daily 8-3

Shine Cafe – 1320 Blanshard St.

We are famous for our gourmet versions of breakfast classics- especially our Eggs Benedict. However, it’s our incredible variety of options that keep our guests coming back for more. Also, our local roots and growing family mean we’re dedicated to supporting local suppliers as much as we can.

Hours:  Mon – Thur 7-3, Fri – Sat 7-4, Sun 8-3

Blue Fox Cafe – 101 – 919 Fort St.

Perennial favourites include Eggs Benny (ten different types and reportedly The Best in the City!), giant gourmet beef burgers, hand cut fries, moroccan chicken & house-roasted savory pork quesadillas!

Emphasis is placed on fresh, locally sourced products – coffee is organic; chicken is free run.  Breakfast is served all day with good music, good value, good cheer…and of course, a little west coast funk!

Hours:  Mon – Fri 7:30-4, Sat & Sun 8-3

Willie’s Cafe & Bakery – 537 Johnson St.

Willie’s Cafe & Bakery, founded in 1887, is British Columbia’s first bakery. Still operating at the original location, we have gained a reputation for our plentiful all day breakfasts and lunches. We make all our meals with local and organic ingredients including free-run eggs, freshly squeezed OJ (yes the real thing!) and organic fair trade coffee.

Spoons Diner – 2915 Douglas St. (in Super 8 Hotel)

Calling All Diner-Lovers!

You’ve found it! Victoria’s hole-in-the-wall diner (and when we say “hole,” we mean funky, hidden gem, not a hole you shove ugly plants in to die).

An unpretentious, swivel-bar-stool, everything-made-from-scratch sorta place.

Hours:  Every day 7-4

Floyd’s Diner – 866 Yates St. (and 721 Station Ave in Langford)

Established in 2004, Floyd’s Diner is a Victoria, BC landmark. We attribute our growth to our loyal customers, new and old. In addition to our satisfying portions we strive to maintain a fun and friendly, family-oriented atmosphere for all to enjoy.
