E & N Rail Trail – our newest Regional Trail!
A new cycling and pedestrian trail is being constructed largely within the E&N rail corridor. It is being built in phases over a number of years and will be 17 kilometers in length when complete. This newest addition to the trail system provides an important non-motorized transportation and recreation link between Victoria and the Western communities.

Although construction of the entire trail is not complete, three sections are open to public use. Where gaps exist, local roads or sidewalks will connect users to the next section of trail.
Jacklin Road to Savory School
(Route between Savory School and the Atkins Road link is yet to be developed.)
Atkins Avenue to Hallowell Road
(Route between Hallowell Road and Maplebank Road is to be determined.)
Maplebank Road to Wilson Street
Trail Construction and Planning
Island Highway, 4 Mile Bridge to Galloping Goose/ E&N at Burnside Road West
- Intersection safety improvements to be completed at Burnett Road. Expected completion September 2015.
- Trail connection work beside Glenairlie Park. Expected completion June 2015.
Esquimalt Road to Wilson Street
- Installation of engineering works at Esquimalt Road to facilitate road/rail crossing safety improvements, and installation of road/rail crossing safety improvements. Expected completion December 2015.
- Construction of trail section. Expected completion December 2015.
Maplebank Road to Hallowell Road
- Discussions on-going with Songhees First Nation, Esquimalt Nation, Town of View Royal, Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and Island Corridor Foundation regarding route for trail.
- Road/rail safety crossing improvements at Maplebank and Hallowell Roads. Dates to be determined.
- Trail construction. Dates to be determined.
Atkins Road to Savory School
- Application made for grants to construct this section.
- Working with City of Langford regarding associated road realignment.
