The 2018 Victoria Sports News New Year’s Day Polar Bear Swim was so much fun (with just two week’s planning) that we decided to make it an annual event. The 2019 edition is on!

What a fun and symbolic way to wash away the previous year and to celebrate the new one, with a dip in the ocean on New Year’s Day at noon, with a whole bunch of like-minded people.

Proceeds will go to KidSport Greater Victoria – helping families help with sports registrations.

We will have a ceremonial first dive by a fully uniformed Victoria HarbourCats baseball player. A ceremonial send-off with the first nations of the area Songhees or Lekwagen Nation, whose land we will celebrate on.

There will be draw prizes. First prize will be a prize for the first person fully immersed into the water.
