TAPAS BARS

Tapas Bars in Victoria

Ok … So what is (are) tapas?

Tapas are a wide variety of appetizers, or snacks, in Spanish cuisine. They may be cold or hot. In select bars in Spain, tapas have evolved into an entire, sophisticated cuisine. Patrons of tapas bars can order many different tapas and combine them to make a full meal. In some Central American countries, such snacks are known as bocas. In Mexico, the vegetarian varieties of similar dishes are called “botanas.”

The serving of tapas is designed to encourage conversation, because people are not so focused upon eating an entire meal that is set before them.  Also, in some countries it is customary for diners to stand and move about while eating tapas.

Here’s some suggestions – in no particular order!

The Veneto is located in the historic Rialto Hotel.  We hear that the cocktail list is amazing.  Here’s what they say:

Veneto is a stylishly sophisticated urban resto-lounge focusing on delectable small plates and a seemingly endless cocktail list. Whether you want to dress up and be seen or subtly fade in the background and take it all in, Veneto is the perfect location.

Veneto is located in one of Victoria’s most endearing heritage properties and boutique style hotel – The Hotel Rialto. This completely renovated boutique property is the perfect location for hip and trendy travellers and locals alike.

You may be wondering “What exactly a resto~lounge is, anyway?” Here is the definition:

A hybrid nightlife experience combining convivial dining with the sophisticated savouring of cocktails, wine or craft beer. Ususally accompanied by great music and exceptional service.
