CLAN TORCHLIGHT CEREMONY

May 19, 2018

8:00 pm

On Saturday, May 19, 2018 the Annual Clan Torchlight Ceremony will take place at the Legislature Grounds to acknowledge those clans involved in the Victoria Highland Games & Celtic Festival at Topaz Park.

Starting at the front of the Legislature Buildings at 8 pm, the Games duty pipe band will perform in front of the Legislature steps. Following the performance, clan representatives will announce their clan’s presence at the Games and received a lit torch. Each clan representative will take their torch onto the Legislature lawns where, collectively, they will form a Scottish Saltire. Once the clan representatives are finished, the Games duty pipe band will finish the ceremony off with a short performance.

Twenty clans participated in the 2017 Torchlight Clan Ceremony. Any clans interested in the 2018 ceremony are invited to contact Jim at jmaxwell@shaw.ca for more information. All citizens of Scottish background are invited to attend the ceremony wearing their tartan and support the Clans! This is a free event open to the public.
