Some other out-of-the way places for shopping/browsing

1.  Oak Bay Avenue

The Avenue, refers to the short section of Oak Bay Avenue from the western border with the City of Victoria at Foul Bay Road, east to Monterey Avenue, where even the most discriminating shopper is sure to find something of great appeal in one of the local shops. Stroll down the Avenue, stopping off for a snack at one of the excellent delicatessens or coffee shops, and check out the art galleries, gift and jewelry stores, bookstores and locally-owned clothing boutiques near Hampshire Road.  For kids, there are several toy stores offering a great selection of items with both fun and learning in mind.

2.  Mattick’s Farm

Mattick’s Farm is located at 5325 Cordova Bay Rd.  It is next to the Cordova Bay Golf Course.matticks farm

This is a small outdoor-type shopping mall.  It has some funky gift shops, clothing stores, a great food store called ‘Red Barn’, a garden centre and a VQA liquor store.

If you stop by … be sure to check out the great little restaurant – Adrienne’s Restaurant & Tea Garden.  Some amazing food as well as deli items and ice cream.

3.  Sidney

Also known as Sidney-by-the-Sea, it’s worth the drive to walk and browse the many stores, boutiques & restaurants.  It’s also the #1 spot to go if you’re a book-lover!  Sidney is known as ‘book town’ for good reason with around 10 book stores in a very small area.  Stores range from antiques, to travel, to childrens’ books … you name it!

It’s also a great place to wander around on foot and stop at one of the restaurants looking out at the ocean – many with outdoor seating in the summer months!

4.  Millstream Village

Located at 2401 Millstream Rd., it’s a bit of a drive but worth it for something different.

Some unique stores include Everything Wine – a large store with an amazing variety and selection of wines from around the world as well as local & BC wines, Golf Town, George Richards Big & Tall shop, Michaels, Tom Lee Music, Valhalla Pure Outfitters, and a great ‘alternative’ food store – Market on Millstream.

On the other side of Millstream Rd. you’ll see some big box stores such as Home Depot, Costco & Home Outfitters.

5.  Westshore Town Centre

Back on Millstream Rd and heading south, you’ll come to another very large indoor/outdoor mall.  The address is 2945 Jacklin Rd. It’s a sprawling complex with a huge variety of stores from grocery, drug stores, liquor stores, clothing, restaurants, furnishings – you name it!

Furthere down the road inside the mall grounds you’ll find a Canadian Tire & a Great Canadian Superstore (groceries).
